Frankfurt’s afternoon sightseeing tram for weekends and public holidays
Why not hopping on an old tram “Ebbelwei Express” and doing some Frankfurt sightseeing?
“Ebbelwei” means cidre (with alcohol) and is quite special (sour) in taste. The taste is very different from the cidre you get in France. When you buy your ticket – from the conductor on the tram – a beverage and pretzels are included. You can choose between mineral water, “Ebbelwoi” cidre (with alcohol), and apple juice.

Take a ride on the “Ebbewei-Express” (cidre tram) and get introduced to some of the sights of Frankfurt am Main.
Don’t forget your camera. There are quite a few good opportunities to take nice pictures of the Frankfurt Skyline while crossing the river “Main”. Then there is the “Hammering Man” in front of the “Messeturm” (one of the many beautiful Frankfurt highrises) … and these are by far not all the sights …
A good starting point is the “Frankfurt Zoo”. The “Ebbelwei Express” is running every 30 minutes and the ride is approx. one hour long. Rides are in the afternoons between 01:30 p.m. and 06:00 p.m.
Go to the “Frankfurt Zoo” in the mornings (see Frankfurt For Kids, February2017) and take the sightseeing tram for a tour around Frankfurt afterwards. After leaving the zoo you are right at the stop where the round trip tour is officially starting. In case you have other plans … no worries … you can get on and off at any other stop as well.
